You Are Blessed

2-10-19

If you are born-again, then God as called you blessed.  You are blessed with the very same blessing that God gave to Abraham.  When Abram (name later changed to Abraham) left his father’s house at God’s command he traded up.  He traded up to an inheritance that far exceeded anything he could have ever imagined.

In Genesis 12:1-3 God said to Abram:

“Go forth from your country,
And from your relatives
And from your father’s house,
To the land which I will show you;
And I will make you a great nation,
And I will bless you,
And make your name great;
And so you shall be a blessing;
And I will bless those who bless you,
And the one who curses you I will curse.
And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

Abram prospered everywhere he went.  The blessing was on his life.  He prospered so much until he and his nephew Lot had to go their separate ways as the land could not support them both.  Lot was a fortunate recipient of the effects of the blessing on Abram’s life because of his connection to Abram.

Abram understood the blessing on his life was God-given.  When Abram and 318 men born in his household rescued Lot from King Chedorlaomer of Elam (see Genesis 14) he refused to take anything from the King of Sodom as a token of his appreciation.  He did not want the King of Sodom to be able to say that he had made Abram rich.  Abram understood it was the blessing that God placed on his life that was the true source of his prosperity.  The blessing is what empowered him to prosper.  He wanted to be certain that God received all of the credit.  The bible says in Galatians 3:8-9 that all nations would be blessed through Abraham. When God made this promise to Abram He was preaching the gospel in advance to him.  God had you and me in mind when He placed the blessing on Abram, child of God.  How awesome is that!  God said YOU ARE BLESSED.  The blessing was not just for Abram and his seed but for every born-again believer.  The blessing that empowered Abram to prosper is on you and me.

You must know that you are blessed with the same blessing that caused Abram to prosper everywhere he went.  You also need to embrace the fact that it is God’s perfect will for you to experience the full effect of that blessing every day of the rest of your life.  However, you should also realize that it is the enemy’s mission to keep you from experiencing just that.  Don’t let that stop you.  You have to make up in your mind that you will not settle for anything less because it is God-given.  Expect to prosper.  After all you are the seed of Abraham through Christ which makes you an heir of the promise (Galatians 3:29).

God bless!
