God’s Medicine

5-19-19

In Proverbs 4:20-22 we find Solomon instructing his son in the way of wisdom as he shares with him:

“My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.  Do not let them depart from your sight; keep them in the midst of your heart.  For they are life to those who find them and health to all their body.” NASB

In his impartation of wisdom we find a powerful declaration concerning the word of God.  Verse 22 declares that the word is “health” to all the body.  In Hebrew the word health means healing, cure, health.  It comes from the word Rapha meaning to heal and literally means “medicine”.  The Amplified Bible says the word is life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh. I don’t know about you, but that leaves something to be desired.

Are you sick?  If you are, the word is the cure for it.  Now you are probably wondering what I am getting at.  Let me make it clear to you.  If you want healing, you have to “take” the word.  You have to “take” the word on a regiment like you take medicine.  You know how you go to the doctor when you are sick, and they give you a prescription?  What do you do with the prescription once you get it filled at the pharmacy?  You don’t put it on a shelf, but you take it as prescribed.  It’s rare to take a prescription in the natural and healing manifest right away.  When it does not we don’t throw the meds away and say these pills are no good.  No!  We keep taking them.  We continue to take the prescription because we have faith that the meds have the ability to produce healing.  We must place this same kind of faith in the word of God.  We also must realize that healing sometimes manifests over time.  Just like in the natural, sometimes healing doesn’t manifest immediately when we take the word.  Even when Jesus healed in the Bible, some people were healed as they went in faith.  We have to continue to take God’s word (His prescription) by giving attention to His word, inclining our ears to His sayings, not letting the word depart from our sight and  keeping it in the midst of our hearts.  Remember the nurse who attends to her patient in the previous Blog?  She attends to her patient by constantly monitoring them up close and personal.  Not from the desk up the hallway.  That’s how we attend to the word of God.  It should stay before our eyes and go into our ears and hearts.  We do this because the word is life unto us and healing, health, and the cure for all our flesh.

Do you desire health today?  Do you desire to be “cured” and not just manage your condition with man’s prescription?  Then attend to the word and take God’s prescription daily.

Get a list of healing scriptures and read them out loud over yourself or your loved one.  This is how we “take” God’s medicine.  When you do it on a regular basis you will experience life.  Depending on the severity of the symptoms, double the dose.  There are no harmful side-effects.  If you need healing, it will cure you.  If you are already well, it will keep you well.  God’s medicine will cure everything that ails you.
